(the queen of cups)

you must understand

sometimes i forget what was or when &

almost never actually factually

how but this is after all the nature

of the business.  the

creation of illusion.  drama.  myth.

presenting oneself like a scrumptious dish.

always on.  never off.  always the queen.

cultivating a sheen of indifference.

you must understand

i only spoke to those men i cared to.

i only drank with men whose wallets were

fat enough to pay for a real party.

yes!  i was a queen!

now i sit here.  alone!  not even seen!

paying for my own drinks.  isn’t life grand?
