NaPoMo Day 8

This poem grew out of an exercise I did in “Tarot For Yourself” by Mary K. Greer.  As many of you know, the Tarot speaks to me poetically & many of my poems use images from the Tarot or are about the Tarot itself.  Mary K. Greer’s Tarot workbooks are great resources for both learning the Tarot & for writing poetry.

for NaPoMo day 8tea roses.   personal photograph, june 2014.

(sonnet with roses)

a solitary rose.  deep rustic pink.

two roses dancing a waltz in the dark.

twelve blood red roses & a chilled bottle

of moët.  deep kisses that never end.

passion.  passion.  passion.  hot & sweaty

at a grateful dead show.  skull & roses.

the wonderful smell of marijuana.

dancing all night long.  watching the sun rise.

the sweet smell of roses after it rains.

colors bright against the cloudy grey sky.

yellow roses are for my gramma mac.

for my mother nothing but pink roses.

i like bright red roses growing along

fences or in a vase here on my desk.
