it must be so wonderful to be you.
i am only a movie walked into
long after the beginning of the film.
but you! the diamond needle that’s dropped so
gently onto the record. the music
starts. it is of course your song. whatever
it is. it’s always about you. your beer
always perfectly cold & frothing white
at the top of the mug. your steak charred black
outside & blood red inside. the girl at
timmy ho’s always knows how you take your
coffee. with a smile & a bit of a flirt.
but you’re like stradlater. you’re just a fake.
more than that. you’re a yellow-bellied snake.
